Project Description
The Pacific Highway provides the main connection from the north between the M1 Motorway and Gosford, carrying up to 30,000 vehicles per day. The Pacific Highway/Dog Trap Road intersection Upgrade (Stage 1) and Pacific Highway Glen Road to Burns Road, Ourimbah (Stage 2) were completed in July 2007 and January 2010 respectively, the next stage of the Pacific Highway upgrade was Lisarow to Ourimbah (Stage 3).
Key features of the project included:
- Upgrade from a single lane in each direction to two through lanes in each direction (dual carriageway).
- Providing on-road cycle lanes in both directions & shared use pedestrian/cycleway on the western side of the highway to improve facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Upgrade Ourimbah Street, Teralba Street and Walmsey Road to traffic control signals.
- Increased traffic capacity of the Pacific Highway to improve traffic flow and reduce travel times/congestion.
- Improved pedestrian and cycle paths along and across the highway
Prior to forming CCHD, Hillard Civil was engaged by the then RTA to developed the strategic design for this section of the Pacific Highway upgrade. On formation of Hillard Civil, Adam was contracted as technical advisor to RTA liaising with an external consultant developing preliminary concept. In December 2010 Hillard Civil was reengaged to develop the detailed concept design and within a limited timeframe successfully delivered in early 2011. Mark Raven was engaged on multiple occasions to undertake cost estimating of options and comparative cost and constructability assessments between options.
