Project Description
Wyong Road (MR335) is approximately 11.5km long and is the main east-west arterial along the southern fringe of Tuggerah Lakes on the New South Wales Central Coast. Carrying up to 46000 vehicles a day, Wyong Road links the M1 Pacific Motorway at the Tuggerah Interchange to the eastern coastal suburbs and Central Coast Highway at Long Jetty.

Roads and Maritime Services proposed upgrade of several intersections along Wyong Road that would provide major benefits to the Central Coast community including improved safety and reduced travel time.

The upgrade at the intersection of Wyong Road, Enterprise Drive and Chittaway Road involved replacing the existing roundabout with traffic lights to improve traffic flow and safety, while catering for future traffic growth.

Services Provided
Hillard Civil (CCHD) was engaged to carry out desktop constraints mapping, preliminary options investigation, strategic road design/documentation, cost estimation and project management in the construction phase.

Working closely with traffic modellers CCHD developed a TCS layout to optimise intersection performance while minimising impact on surrounding properties and stakeholders. The design includes consideration to minimise level differences between existing and proposed pavement levels and to keep roadway within existing kerb lines where possible and assist with traffic switches during construction.

In the delivery phase CCHD assisted RMS with the development of detailed design, preparation of tender documentation and tender estimates, tender review and award, community and stakeholder consultation, property acquisition, post-tender and project start-up activities and all aspects of project management during construction.
